PZU Auto Liability Insurance
Do you own a motor vehicle? Regardless of how often you use it, you are required to purchase liability insurance. Otherwise, an accident or collision could result in high repair costs.
Who is it for?
This is mandatory insurance for vehicle owners. Its terms and conditions, scope of coverage, and limitations can be found in the Act on Mandatory Insurance, the Insurance Guarantee Fund, and the Polish Motor Insurers’ Bureau.
When and how can we help?
If you caused an accident, you are responsible for repairing the damage or paying for it. If you have PZU Auto OC coverage, we will pay compensation to the injured parties.
We are liable for damages that occurred during and in connection with:
- vehicle movement,
- getting into or out of a vehicle,
- direct loading or unloading of a vehicle,
- stopping or parking a vehicle.
We provide financial coverage for damages whose value does not exceed:
- 5,210,000 euros for personal injury (for example, if someone dies or is injured in an accident),
- 1,050,000 euros for property damage (e.g., damage to a car, a roadside barrier, or a private property fence).
The insurance covers losses resulting from death, bodily injury, health impairment, or the loss, destruction, or damage of property. We handle vehicle repairs, medical treatment, disability benefits, or compensation for the death of individuals.
Third-Party Liability Insurance is valid in Poland, other European Union countries, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Extensions to the scope of coverage:
- PAO UTO – liability insurance covering damages caused by the owner or user of a vehicle insured under PZU Auto OC while riding a UTO personal transportation device, such as a bicycle, wheelchair, or scooter,
- PZU Roadside Assistance – Comfort – along with liability insurance, we offer basic roadside assistance services, namely PZU Roadside Assistance in the Comfort plan,
- Green Card – Before traveling to certain countries, you must have an international liability insurance certificate—the so-called Green Card,
- Direct Claims Settlement (BLS) – if your vehicle is damaged in a collision, you can file a claim with us. We’ll handle the paperwork with other insurers and pay you the money,
- Exclusion of a Claim from the Liability Insurance Policy – With this option, the first claim under a liability insurance policy will not affect the premium when you purchase your next liability insurance policy from PZU.
Why is it worth it?
- We guarantee immediate damage repair,
- liability insurance for cyclists, scooter users, and users of other personal mobility devices,
- Green Card – included in the price of PZU Auto Liability Insurance,
- Roadside Assistance: Comfort, which also includes a medical consultation for the driver in the event of an accident.
Insurance Coverage – Exclusions and Limitations
We are not liable for damages:
- for the damage the driver caused to the owner's property,
- in a vehicle owned or co-owned by the holder of the vehicle that caused the damage — unless such vehicles are subject to a lease agreement with the same lessor, have been transferred to the same creditor, or are subject to a retention of title in favor of the same creditor,
- in cargo, shipments, or baggage carried for a fee—unless liability for the damage rests with the owner of a vehicle other than the one transporting those items,
- which involve the loss of cash, jewelry, securities, documents, and collections of stamps, coins, and similar items,
- that involve environmental pollution or contamination.
